7th Asian Symposium on Visualization (7ASV)

The Dept of Mechanical Engineering, NUS is involved in organising the 7th Asian Symposium on Visualization (7ASV), which will be held on 26 - 30 May 2003, in the "Garden City" - Singapore, which has also ranked as Asia's number one Convention City for 16 consecutive years.

This Symposium is the latest in the series of Asian Symposia of Visualization, which was first held in Beijing, China (1988) and successively in Hangzhou, China (1992), Chiba, Japan (1994), Beijing, China (1996), Bali, Indonesia (1999) and Pusan, Korea (2001).

The aim of the Symposium is to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to communicate and exchange information in the field of visualization applied over a wide range of disciplines which utilises this technique such as, fluid dynamics, acoustics, aerodynamics, biomedical science, chemical engineering, civil engineering, enviromental engeneering, medical imaging, metallurgy, meteorology, oceanography, solid mechanics, sports science.

The Department's faculty members are involved in organising the International Energy Conference (WEC Asia Pacific Forum 2003), which is being held from 25 to 27 February 2003 at Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre.   The theme of the Forum is "Energy for Growth:  The Policy and Technology Challenges".  The Forum is held under the auspices of the Organising Committee of the Asia Pacific Region in cooperation with the Singapore Member Committee.

This Forum serves to foster a common understanding among some 20 Asia Pacific Member Committees on the policy and technology challenges facing the world and the Asia Pacific region in particular. It also establishes a platform for greater regional cooperation in view of the constantly increasing demand for energy.  Eminent leaders from government and industry have been invited to give the Keynote Addresses.    Presentations by leaders and experts in policy and technology will be followed by discussion involving all delegates at parallel sessions.
