|
A ME graduate student Sascha Pierre Heussler was awarded one of the "Highest Poster Presentation Awards” at the SRI2006 conference (The Ninth International Conference on Synchrotron Radiation Instrumentation) in Daegu, Korea, 28 May - 2 June 2006, for his poster entitled "Deep X-Ray Lithography in the Fabrication Process of a 3D Diffractive Optical Element". It is indeed testimony to his excellent work and recognition for the ME department and Singapore Synchrotron Light Source (SSLS), to receive this honour among the hundreds of posters presented. Out of 899 participants, five delegates received the award which was accompanied by a monetary reward of 200,000 Korean Won (S$330).
The conference is held every three years and is the largest and most important international forum which seeks to promote international exchange and collaboration among all scientists and engineers around the world involved in the development of new concepts, techniques, and instruments related to the production and utilization of synchrotron radiation. SRI2006 was hosted by Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL), Korea and co-hosted by Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute (JASRI). SRI2006 features new developments in synchrotron radiation sources, free electron lasers at photon energies from infrared to hard X-rays, beamline instrumentation, and experimental utilization techniques. Special emphasis is given to new and forefront challenges and opportunities provided by recent progresses and expanding interests worldwide in sciences and technologies related to nano and femto dimensions. Our heartiest congratulations to Sascha, the project supervisors Profs C Quan and CJ Tay of the ME department, and Prof HO Moser of SSLS.
