New e-books project of Transport Processes Research (TPR) Group - Prof. Arun S. Mujumdar

The TPR group has been operational under Prof. Mujumdar's mentorship for nearly a decade. It consists of his research students at NUS as well as a large number of dedicated academics from around the world-many mentored by him over the years. The list of collaborations and TPR members has been growing and newcomers with like interests and expertise are welcome to join.

TPR has been very productive in R&D. It is a product of globalization and innovation. As can be seen from quantitative evidence elsewhere on this website, TPR is exceptional in producing nearly 20 per cent of its research productivity in the form of books and book chapters. Prof. Mujumdar alone has contributed to over 75 books authored or edited by him personally. His effort started way back in 1978 with his founding of the IDS series at McGill University, Canada. Now many of his mentees have also contributed in similar fashion to the global literature.

One limitation of this enormous effort has been the difficulty many face in accessing this vast body of useful knowledge due to the costs involved. TPR therefore initiated this project of making selected e-books available free of charge to anyone around the globe. These books will be concise, relatively self-contained and themes that are of interest to all parts of the world-developing and developed. These books will serve the needs of students, faculty members, industry personnel and libraries as well at no cost. Members of the group are "donating" their precious professional time and expertise for this purpose and making the work "truly published" without barriers of financial resources. We hope and believe that these books will have widest possible dissemination of R&D outcomes of TPR members. We also invite nonmembers to submit proposals for chapters in future volumes and editions of these series.

Note that all TPR e-books published for free downloads are peer-reviewed. Copyrights rest with the contributors of individual chapters who have agreed provide free access to their work without charge. It is expected that readers give due credit to the authors and the book in their own publications.
