The Sixteenth International Conference on Processing and Fabrication of Advanced Materials: Announcement
Sponsored and organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The National University of Singapore (Singapore) the Sixteenth International Conference on Processing and Fabrication of Advanced Materials is to be held 17-19 December 2007 .
The purpose of the inter-disciplinary conference is to bring together state-of-the-art developments on all aspects related to the processing and fabrication of advanced materials spanning the entire spectrum of metallic, intermetallics, ceramics, ceramic-matrix composites, metal-matrix composites, intermetallic-matrix composites, advanced polymers, polymer-matrix composites, semiconductor materials and surface and high-temperature coatings.
This conference will provide an attractive forum for presenting the latest advances in materials processing and fabrication by researchers and engineers from the cross-section of industry, research laboratories and academia. KEY-NOTE, INVITED and CONTRIBUTED papers will be included. The Key-Note and Invited papers from "leading-edge" academic and industrial research settings, in related areas, will provide a lucid and comprehensive overview of the current status and potential future directions for research, development and commercialization. Contributed papers will attempt to cover specific problems in the same areas.
The topics of interest include but are not restricted to:
- Nano-structured Metallic and Non-metallic Materials
- Fuel Cell Materials
- Hydrogen Storage Materials
- Magnetic Materials
- Superconducting Materials
- Semiconductor Materials
- Intermetallic Matrix Composites
- Metal Matrix Composites
- Polymer Matrix Composites
- Ceramic Matrix Composites
- Surface Coatings
- Advanced Polymers
- Ceramics
- Structural and Functional Intermetallics
Where possible, presentations on the topics included in this conference should relate to applications in one of the following five focus areas:
- Automotive & Truck
- Electronics & Communications
- Energy & Utilities
- Failure Analysis: Implications and Applications
- Heavy Equipment, Machinery, Durable Goods

The 16th International Drying Symposium (IDS 2008) will be held in Mumbai, India during November, 2008. This event is a part of widely acclaimed global scale International Drying Symposium (IDS) series founded by Professor Arun S. Mujumdar at McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 1978. The aim of the series has been to provide a forum to exchange knowledge and lateset R & D results across geographical and industrial sectorial boundaries. Another objective is to foster industry-acedemia interaction. The event has been organized by "World Forum for Crystallization, Filtration and Drying" (WFCFD) and Department of Chemical Engineering, University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT), Mumbai. The main aim of the symposium is to exchange information and knowledge in the area of Drying Technology on International as well as National level. Another important goal of this conference is to provide a forum for presentation and exchange of ideas on the latest developments in drying technology and to disseminate relevant information among drying professionals all over the world. An exhibition of industrial drying/dewatering and solid/liquid separation equipment will be held in conjunction with this symposium. The main theme for IDS 2008 will be "Research and Development and Opportunities in Drying".
Contribution to the following areas may be presented at IDS 2008:
- Fundamentals of Drying Technology and Physical Properties of Material
- Cost Effective and Advanced Drying Techniques
- Industrial Processes and Equipments for Drying and Dewatering
- Measurement and Process Control in Drying
- Energy and Environmental Implications
- Osmotic and Electro-osmotic Dewatering
- Mechanical Dewatering
- Synergy between Crystallization, Filtration and Drying
- Process Development and Industrial Drying
- Drying of Paper and Wood
- Drying of Food and Agricultural Products
- Drying of Pharmaceuticals, API's and Crystals
- Drying of Bulk Chemicals and Specialty Products
- Drying of Textiles and Polymer Materials
