Kruce and FSAE 09 cars were displayed at ONE⁰15 Marina Club, Sentosa on 26th to 27th Sept 2009. The event - Festival La Mer, held in conjunction with the Formula 1 Singapore GP race weekend, celebrates the 2nd Year Anniversary of ONE⁰15 Marina Club and is organized by our esteemed sponsor, SUTL.
NUS eco-car, Kruce displayed at SMU to support the Green Transport Week on 22 Aug 09
Kruce was displayed at the SMU campus on 22 Aug 2009 to support the Green transport week organized by the Singapore Environment Council. The transport week was officially launched on that day at SMU Campus by Dr Amy Khor, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources. NUS eco-car, Kruce to participate at Shell Eco-marathon Curtain Raiser at Sepang
NUS ECO Car team will participate at the Shell Eco-marathon Curtain Raiser at Sepang International Racing Circuit from 15 to 16 July 2009. The team was invited by Shell for the special events as a prelude to the actual Shell Eco-marathon Asia in July 2010. NUS team will comprised of 3 staff and 6 student team.
NUS ECO Car team to participate at Shell Eco-marathon Europe 2009
NUS ECO Car team will participate at the Shell Eco-marathon Europe in Germany from 7 to 9 May 2009. The team has built a customized hydrogen fuel cell powerplant that drives an electric motor urban concept car. For more information on this development, read the newsletter at the Media page.
NUS ECO Car displayed at Kuala Lumper Convention Centre for the IPTC from 3rd to 5th Dec 2009
NUS ECo Car Team was invited by Shell (Singapore) to be part of their participation at the International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) held from 3 to 5 Dec 2008 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. There were 4,000 oil and gas scientists, engineers and other professionals from throughout the world attended the IPTC 2008. At the same time, students, educators, as well as local regional organizations from more than 30 countries also participated at the conference. During the conference Shell launched the Shell eco-marathon in Asia at Sepang, KL in 2010. NUS team was represented by Anton Chan, Ridhuan Mukthar and Wang Zizi.

Singapore Motorshow 2008, 26 th September - 05 th October
On the 26 th September, the NUS Eco-car team, together with the NUS FSAE and Tomb Trekker teams were cordially invited to attend a talk by senior Nissan executives at the Motorshow 2008. Throughout the 45min talk exclusive to our students, Mr. Toyomasu and Mr. Doi shared with us on Nissan’s commitments to addressing issues in automotive safety and environmental responsibility. An inspiring video of the Nissan Pivo 2 concept car was also shown to showcase Nissan’s vision of future mobility.
Following the talk, the students were lead to a tour around the Nissan Technology Square by Mr. Toyomasu and Mr. Doi. On display are several of Nissan’s technologies, such as a scaled model of the Pivo 2, the Around View Monitor system as well as a couple of interactive display on the effects of aerodynamics and chassis crash protection zone.
Elsewhere in the Nissan booth are the displays of the current Nissan passenger car line-up in Singapore, including the latest generations of the Murano and the GT-R.
With such interesting showcases happening at the Nissan booth, the Singapore Motorshow 2008 is definitely worth checking out!





Autodesk Inventor 2009 Workshop, 23 rd - 25 th July 2008
The NUS Ecocar team flagged off her journey to the Shell Eco-Marathon Europe 2009 with a 3-day workshop conducted by Mr. George Abraham, Education Solution Manager, Autodesk Asia Pacific. We were trained on the latest version of the software, Autodesk Inventor 2009. Some of the highlights of the software include: electronic and mechanical integration, a design friendly interface that eliminates tedious geometric construction and comprehensive dynamics simulations. “Experience before it is real” was Mr. Abraham’s favourite catch phrase. With confidence, we look forward to designing our 2009 car with the continued support from Autodesk.

Shell Eco-Marathon 2008 results for NUS team
With 91 km/l, the NUS ECO1 – Urban Concept team was position 15 out of 40 teams under the Internal Combustion Engines Category at the Shell Eco-marathon Europe 2008 competition in Nogaro, France (May 22 to 24). The NUS team was Southeast Asia’s sole representative and one of the two teams to use the GTL fuel in the competition. Each team car had to complete 14 laps; each lap is 1.620 km maintaining an average speed not lower than 25 km/h, giving 54 min 25 sec to complete 22.7 km of track. For the greenhouse gas emission, the team ranked 17 producing 744.7 CO2 for 22.7 km, thus emitting 32.8 g/km.
