Teaching experiments in air-conditioning and refrigeration related research activities are carried out in this lab. Teaching facilities include: refrigeration systems working on the principles of vapour compression, absorption and air cycles and thermo-electric cooling. The laboratory accomodates facilities for testing of heat pumps, chillers, room air-conditioners and air handling units. An environmental chamber, which can produce different indoor and outdoor conditions with variable air velocity, is also housed in this laboratory. Tha chamber is equipped with data acquisition system in conjunction with precision instrumentation and data analysis software. Equipment for investigating indoor air quality (IAQ) is also available in this laboratory.

The following undergraduate and graduate research projects are located in this lab:

* Development of an energy efficiency index for buildings in Singapore

* Energy efficient cooling of commercial buildings

* Development of building energy audit and compliance procedures for an energy    performance standard
