The Energy Conversion Laboratory provides facilities for undergraduate teaching experiments as well as research work for undergraduate and graduate students.

Teaching experiments on single and double stage heat pump dryers, a single cylinder 2-stroke petrol engine, and temperature measurements are carried out in this lab.

Facilities in the laboratory include a 2-litre Opel engine converted to operate on a natural gas, a cogeneration test-bed consisting of a Capstone 330 (30 kWe) micro-turbine, and a 10 RT lithium-bromide absorption chiller. The micro-turbine cogeneration test-bed was set up through a collaboration with British Gas Asia Pacific.
