Research Facilities - CMM Laboratory

A DEA Gamma 0101 co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM) with numerical control has been installed in the CMM laboratory in Workshop 2 (see picture). The CMM is intended for specialized purposes such as projects, research and development, and is expected to be an integral part of the flexible or computer integrated manufacturing system at two levels: at the shopfloor level to perform the usual task of dimensional inspection and at the computer aided design (CAD) level to serve as a tool for re-construction of components for reverse engineering. Data exchange between the CMM and the Integraph CAD/CAM workstations in the CAD/CAM Centre is possible via the dimensional measuring interface specification (DMIS) protocol.
