During his recent visit in May 1999 to Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Professor Nee was conferred Honorary Professorship.  Only one or two distinguished academics are honoured each year and the State Commission for Education in Beijing has to give the approval for such honours.  In his acceptance speech, he mentioned that he would endeavour to promote greater interaction between the two universities and make an effort to visit HUST yearly.
