Hamid 's first paper titled Crystal plasticity of nano-twinned microstructures: a discrete twin approach for copper has been accepted for publication in Acta Materialia.
Ramin 's paper titled Grain size-inclusion size interaction in metal matrix composites using mechanism-based gradient crystal plasticity has been accepted for publication in International Journal of Solids and Structures.
Announcing the arrival of baby boy, Avneesh, in Shailendra 's family. Born on May 6th, 2011, 0859 hrs at National University Hospital.

Shailendra receives funding from US Army ’s International Technology Center-Pacific (ITC-PAC) to investigate Size-Dependent Mechanisms in Hierarchical Magnesium Composites. This experimental-computational project is in part collaboration with Professor Manoj Gupta (ME).

Shailendra is teaching ESP 2106 Principles of Continua this semester.
Professor K.T. Ramesh (Johns Hopkins University) visited our group during Jan 01-14, 2011 as a part of collaborative research in the mechanics of nanostructured materials and interfaces. He presented a seminar in ME titled Soft, Squishy and Fibrous: a Cellular-Level Injury Criterion for Traumatic Brain Injury in Humans.
Professor Lallit Anand (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) visited our group on Jan 06, 2011. He presented a seminar in ME titled Mechanics of Amorphous Polymers: Micron-Scale Hot-Embossing; Shape-Memory Polymers.
Nov/ Dec 2010
Shailendra receives funding of SGD 360,990 (3 years) from the Scientific and Engineering Research Council (SERC) Singapore, under the Materials World Network Program in collaboration with NSF-USA. The project aims at investigating the Dynamics of Discrete Twinning in FCC and HCP metals through combined experimental and computational approaches. This project will be jointly carried out with his US counterpart, Professor K.T. Ramesh at the Johns Hopkins University, who is separately funded by the NSF.
Shailendra and Hamid attend the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (Nov 12-18, 2010); Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to give two invited talks in the session on Size Scale Effects in Micro/Nano Structured Materials and Composites (Organizer: Prof. Rashid Abu Al-Rub).
Abhilash gets his first paper titled Micromechanics of Diffusion Induced Damage Evolution in Reinforced Polymers accepted for publication in the Composites Science and Technology journal. Congratulations, Abhilash!
