Drop Impacts

I am studying the instabilities leading to splashing and gas transport due to drop impacts onto solid and liquid surfaces.

I have studied the fingering instability during a drop impacting onto a glass plate, with Prof. Sakakibara now at Tsukuba University in Japan.

Very low impact velocities often lead to drops 'floating' on the pool surface, before coalescing in multiple steps.  I have studied this phenomena with Prof. Takehara.

Most recently I have collaborated with Professors Takehara and Etoh at Kinki University in Japan.
